Carmel is a dedicated Parenting Educator with a Passion for Childbirth Education.
She has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy completed in 1981, setting the foundation for her career in health education.
Carmel transitioned from the Physiotherapy Department to Health Education and became a Childbirth & Parenting Educator in 1989. For more than 30 years she has been a trusted facilitator at The Royal Hospital for Women, Randwick.
During her long career she has guided many pregnant women and their partners through Having a Baby sessions and facilitated Postnatal Parenting Groups & Online Sessions of Birth & Baby Intensive. In addition she has, for many years conducted Multiple Birth Education Sessions.
Her aim is to make your journey a joyous experience, regardless of this being your first child or not. To prepare you both, individually and together for the birth and for the parenthood journey beyond. To provide evidence based information delivered in a practical and easy-to-understand manner
As the class or classes conclude, her aim as an educator, is to leave the mothers-to-be and their partners with a sense of empowerment and confidence in their ability to navigate pregnancy and childbirth. She fosters a sense of community and support among the group, reminding them that they’re not alone on this journey.
Carmel is committed to professional growth actively engaging in conferences and workshops to ensure her knowledge, along with the detail she presents in classes remains current and evidence based.
She is a member of the highly respected Childbirth & Parenting Association (CAPEA).
Carmel is dedicated to support families on their wonderful journey to parenthood. She is a mother of five children including a set of twins.
